Background
Barnyard Recs began as a passion-led initiative by a young musician who wanted to share knowledge with fellow music enthusiasts. What started as a simple one-page WordPress site offering a discounted first session quickly gained traction as more musicians joined and demand surged. With popularity growing faster than expected, the team needed to turn their rudimentary concept into a scalable platform that could support a real learning community and evolving business model.
Challenges
The team needed a functional MVP quickly, with limited time, resources, and an almost nonexistent visual system. The task was to build a scalable, intuitive platform while
preserving the original spirit and core funnel, including the discounted trial session. It also
required role-based dashboards for students, instructors, and admins, designed with familiarity across roles since users could transition from learners to instructors
Outcome
In just about a month, I designed and delivered a working learning platform centered around clarity, usability, and future scaling. The product preserved the original visual
essence while introducing structured user flows, a discoverable instructor library, seamless booking experience, and the ability to purchase digital production assets directly from instructors. Role-based dashboards were built with consistent interaction patterns, making the platform intuitive regardless of user type. What started as an MVP of an MVP evolved into a functional, scalable first product that now supports Barnyard Recs as it grows into a more mature learning and creator ecosystem.
